Annemarie Gibbs
Annemarie did her time in the mid 80’s as a Typography apprentice for The Printing Press in Wellington. While on her OE she worked in England for the Cambridge Evening News. On return she worked for a few small graphic design studios before becoming an account manager for Vertigo Design then Trenco Print. Annemarie got her dream job starting as the Prepress Manager at Learning Media and before it closed was the Production Manager working alongside incredibly passionate people in publishing for the education sector. She has spent the last 10 years at the Ministry of Education providing publishing advice across the entire ministry and manages the production process for all projects and events – prepress, print, distribution and warehousing services including the Education Gazette, Ready to Read series, Connected and School Journals (one of the longest running children’s publications in the world).
Annemarie continues to educate from within, the power of print, and says her highlights while at the ministry has been providing the Covid hard packs to students homes in lockdowns in “unprecedented times”, and saving the Learning Media original artworks by artists including Dick Frizzell, Rita Angus, Joy Cowley, Cliff Whiting by cataloguing and repackaging over 10,000 individual pieces for transfer to Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga Archives New Zealand.
